Back-up Plan Birthday Party

This poor mom has twice had plans for her daughters birthday to be outside and both years she has had to move it to McDonald's play place. I told her next year to plan for it to be at McD's and then the weather would be perfect and she could have it outside.
By having someone else to take pictures at the party group shots are so much easier to get and remember to get.

Waiting to blow out the candles.

Vegas Wedding

Vegas themed cake. I love that they went with the Vegas theme, but not over the top with it.

Derrick and Dana actually had 3 weddings, one traditional in a church, one in Vegas and not really a wedding, but the reception here in Columbia at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel.  Dana works at the Courtyard so it was the perfect place for their reception.  We had hopes of doing pictures around town, but Mother Nature had other ideas. So instead we stayed at the hotel watching the first US game in the World Cup(yes, I'm a bit behind on updating) and taking pictures there.  I'll be honest I was totally bummed about not being able to do pictures outside, I had so many fun ideas, but decided to just roll with it.

Here's just a few pictures from their reception, I'll be back later with a few more.

Very simple flowers to go with the simple black dresses.  I love when brides go this route.
Favors for the guys! What guy would love a beer mug like this!

Glo Golf Birthday

Glo Golf is a new place entertainment "store" in our mall. Great for a kids party. The kids run around and play golf for a while and even the adults can have a bit of fun. To be honest I wasn't sure how the pictures would turn out of them actually golfing, but I think they turned out pretty good. It was at this party that I decided offering a Birthday package might not be a bad idea. Moms are always frazzled enough at parties making sure everyone is doing what they should be and enjoying themselves and then trying to get pictures can sometimes put us over the edge. The mom at this party look very relieved when I offered to take pictures for her(might have had to do with the fact that she had just been to her daughter's dance recital earlier in the day and still had events after the birthday party).

Their neighbor made the cake. The boys(8 year olds) were having fun giving Yoda bunny ears and once the candles had been blown out taking poor Yoda's ears and placing them in other spots. 8 year old boys are so weird.

End of the Year Celebration

My daughter, Audrey, has attended pre-school the last 2 years through our school's Title 1 program. This has been an amazing program for us. She has grown so much and is so ready for Kindergarten next year. She has had amazing teachers that we are going to miss so much.

Every year they have an End of the Year Celebration at one of the local parks. A parent grills hot dogs and everyone brings a dish of some sort and of course the kids play.

Audrey and her "boyfriend" Carson.

Dart, actually asked me to take his picture. I have wanted to get one of these kinds of shots for a while and this worked perfectly.

Welcome

A little bit about me:
I have always loved taking pictures, even back to the day of the Fisher Price camera I had with the flash that I had to flip around because you only had so many exposures on a flash. Does anyone else remember the camera I'm talking about? Still wish I had mine sometimes. Photography has come a long ways since my Fisher Price Camera or even my LeClic camera.

In high school I spent many Friday nights at Football games on the sidelines taking pictures. Learned to run pretty fast when you have a bunch of big football players coming at you. Of course back in those days we still had film. I wonder what it would be like now with digital cameras.

Most of the pictures I take these days are of my kids. I love capturing them in their element, just having fun. I can usually be found with my camera attached to me. Sporting events, school events, even just hanging out at home my camera is never far away.

I believe the best pictures come when everyone is relaxed and having fun. Because of this my sessions will all be done on a location of your choice. You know your family and kids better than me and you know where they are comfortable. I also believe in minimal posing. That's not to say I won't pose you and your family, but it will be done in a much more natural state. I love to capture kids and families doing what they do best or what they have the fondest memories of. If weekend mornings are spent hanging out in bed watching tv why not take pictures there? Wherever your families special place is we can take pictures there.

I do offer other packages aside from the family session. One of my favorites is the Birthday Party package. Birthday parties are always hectics for mom and dad so why not have someone handle the picture taking part. The package includes a few "portrait" type shots of the birthday kid, great for those first few years especially.
